And be sure you have enough villagers bringing in food (or whatever is used to create them) that you can constantly create more.
If a villager brings in 10 wood instead of standing still, that's a plus for you. At the very least, task them to a nearby resource where you can check in once in a while to balance your economy. Without resource income, there is no army, and without an army, there is no victory.Īnd once a villager or settler is created, don't let them stand around idle. There are some exceptions - like saving up resources for a moment to advance to the next age, or you're population capped near the end-game - but your entire economy relies on these units. Your Town Center should almost never be idle, so keep it busy, creating settlers and villagers when you're not advancing to the next age.
This same tip applies to all Age of Empires games. Never stop creating settlers and villagers
And if your PC is struggling to keep up with a fast pace, check out the best laptops for Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition for a potential upgrade. Don't worry about going all in at once with hotkeys train yourself slowly, and you soon won't have to hardly think about performing common tasks. I've been using it for Age of Empires II for years with just a few modifications for oft-used buildings. there's some options here for factions.Hotkeys are customizable in Age of Empires III: DE, but the standard grid layout also works pretty well.
This could bring along a new middle eastern architecture style that could also be given to the Ottomans who could get a bit of an update here on their roster.Īlso some new desert maps. I'd give them a unique ship too.Īnd for a new expansion, I'd go with the middle east/ North Africa. They'd also get Genoese Crossbowmen as a superiour version of the regular crossbowman. They'd get towers and walls to match, also that Bierhaus changed to something NOT German and matching with the mediteranean build style.Įlmeti should be their heavy cavalry, a unit they have on their roster. I'd make them function similar to the other European civs but would pair it with a slight update to the mediteranean architecture. It was a cut faction from the original game so would be great to see it finally added. That being said, I think Italy could be great as a stand alone faction to add, as they did with the US. Swedes and Inca are better balanced new civs, more in line with the original factions so they should go back more to that. There can be too much stuffed into a civ. If they add new civs, I hope they won't be so bloated as the US and the African civs. Danes it's an option too, since the had more presence in America than Swedes, Germans and the two options above.
Italy and Poland-Lithuania Comonwealth are obvious options. Now that we have USA Civ, we might as well have the other two American countries that were important enough to become a Civ, Brazil and Mexico.įinally, we could have one more European DLC (yes, with European maps, and a new native system for Europe).
Barbarian States is too generic to become a Civ. In the African DLC, we need culturally African Civs, in the 4th Asian Civ, we need a culturally Asian civ (and preferably from the only region of Asia without a civ, the southeast), so I suggest a DLC of Civs of Arab/Islamic Culture, with Morocco, Persian, they are the best options because they are better known and popular, but Omani is also an option. Please understand, Islamics/Arabs Civs are not politically, economically, culturally, militarily focused on Africa (as an African DLC civ should be) or Asia (as the 4th Asian Civ equivalent to the Incas should be). Maybe in a system similar to that USA civ since it is a single civ as well.Ģ Arab/Islamic Civs. Korea did not do well at that time so don't ask for them and Persian, again, is more related to the Arab world than to Asia. Again, there is already the foundation for a Southeast Asian civ in the Revolution Civ of Indonesian, another option would be the Siameses, if I'm not mistaken. In this case it is possible to be a civ who practiced a little Colonialism, or a Civ that suffered with Colonialism. Ethiopia (which is already present in one or two scenarios) is the best options. Remembering, it is essential that the 2 Civs are African and black, no Arabs. Originally posted by Thor II:For me, DLCs should be divided like this.Ģ Black African Civs, and who must follow the same theme of the Warchiefs and asian dynasties, that is, civs who suffered colonialism and who fought against them, not Civs who practiced colonialism in Africa.
