SQRT3, the studio behind Welcome to Primrose Lake, published their new game Barbarous: Tavern of Emyr, which was soon after promoted to a GameHouse Original Stories title. May was a good month, because GameHouse kind of went into a new direction.
A month later, in May, there was big news once again because the PC version of Doctor’s Oath was also finally released! Very very very exciting, because we all know that sometimes mobile gaming just isn’t for you, and I personally can’t waait to experience the whole series again on my trusted laptop – that just happens to be perfect for gaming! However, there would soon be good news! In April, the revamped version of Heart’s Medicine: Season One got released for PC, which is of course really good because it now matches the graphic and gameplay style of the other installments and that means that new players can fully, optimally experience Allison’s story from the very beginning. So yeah, i totally understand the decision, but am I still a little hurting over it? Yep. It of course made sense, given the success of Doctor’s Oath as well as Delicious World and Delicious Bed & Breakfast, but it definitely took time getting used to… and honestly? I still really miss the original franchise, especially because ever since Detective Jackie, we haven’t seen any games set in Snuggford or featuring Snuggfordians anymore… and it kind of sucks to realize that we probably won’t get any sequels for Amber, Amy or Emily in the forseeable future.
It definitely defined the year, though, since that made it clear for players that they would no longer be following their ‘one game a month, 12 games a year’-strategy that was crafted to get people to subscribe to the Club Subscription.
I wrote a long and extensive piece on that, so for my whole opinion on it, I’ll gladly direct you here. In February, GameHouse also sort-of-announced that they’d be focusing on their mobile gaming catalog. And no, I have not played it yet, but I will definitely do that in 2021! It took a long time, which makes sense since there were rumors flying about it being GameHouse’s most ambitious project yet.
When the year started, we were all wondering when the heck Unsung Heroes: The Golden Mask was going to get released… and not much later, it was there! By early February, it was available on all platforms: PC, Android and iOS. There’s been a pretty big, pretty long drought that we could really only fill up with the fremium games, but… there was some stuff at least! Actually, 2020 started as well as ended on a pretty high note. Okay, so, I obviously had some doubts whether or not to do this post, since… you know, 2020 hasn’t exactly been a big year in games. And before we move on to scrambling with our resolutions and our plans and with the directions our lives will take, let’s have a look back at what 2020 brought us Snuggford fans! Games released in 2020 Hopefully it’ll bring us many a good thing and also much improvement compared to this year, because, well… it’s been quite the year.
We made it, guys! Happy new year! It’s the first page of a brand new book, or, better said: the first level of a VERY LARGE time management game that will be full of challenges, objectives, peaks and lows, glorious momentums and bright spots.
